FL Officer Fired over Parkland Shooting Response Given Job Back with Full Pay

The Florida sheriff’s sergeant who was fired for hiding behind a car during the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting is getting his job back with full pay and even back pay.

Brian Miller is getting his job back because his “due process rights were violated when he was terminated.” The Sun Sentinel says Miller made around $137,000 back in 2018.

Miller was the first supervisor on the scene of the shooting. Investigators found that Miller came onto the scene to hear three or four guns shots but put on his bullet proof vest and hid behind his car.

A commissioner’s report said Miller “failed to coordinate or direct deputies actions and did not direct or coordinate a direct response inside the school.” 14 students and 3 faculty members died that day.
