Apparently, Southwest Airlines officials aren’t onboard with their own protective mask policy. In a leaked memo, they tell employees to allow passengers to board even if they refuse to wear face masks.

The memo, obtained by CNN , reads, “We will not deny boarding solely based on a customer’s refusal to wear a face covering.” While the memo goes on to advise flight attendants to inform passengers of the policy, it says they’re “not expected to be the enforcers. Ask the customer to comply with wearing a face covering if they are able.”

The memo appears to contradict Southwest’s official coronavirus policy, which calls wearing a protective mask a “requirement.”
