Barack Obama to Deliver All-Encompassing HS Commencement Address

One positive aspect of this year’s virtual graduation ceremonies is many schools and universities have been able to land bigger names for their commencement addresses because the stars don’t have to leave their homes to do them. And high schoolers across the country this weekend will hear from one of the biggest names of all: Barack Obama.

The former president has signed on to deliver a virtual high school commencement speech for “Graduate Together: America Honors the High School Class of 2020,” which is set to air at 7 p.m. Saturday on NBC. Also appearing in the special are LeBron James, Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, the Jonas Brothers and Kane Brown.

“I’ve always loved joining commencements — the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice,” Obama tweeted on Friday. “Even if we can’t get together in person this year, Michelle and I are excited to celebrate the nationwide Class of 2020 and recognize this milestone with you and your loved ones.”
