NFL proposal incentivizes minority hires

NFL teams could improve their cache of draft picks by hiring minority head coaching and GM candidates under a new proposal.

Sources tell ESPN that teams could move their third-round picks up 10 spots for a General Manager-level hire and pick up six spots for a head coach hire. If teams retain those hires, they’ll receive fourth-round boosts in the employee’s third year on the job.

A quarterback coach retained for one-year is worth a five spot fourth-round bump and a fourth-round compensatory pick would be awarded if another team hires one of your minority coaches as their new head coach.

The proposal by the league’s diversity committee needs 24 of 32 votes for passage.
