Judge Blocks Removal of Confederate Monument in Richmond, Virginia

A judge in Richmond, Virginia has filed an injunction to block the removal of the statue fo Confederate General Robert E. Lee for the next ten days.

The temporary injunction was granted Monday and prevents Governor Ralph Northam’s administration from removing the statue.

According to the wording of the order, “the state is a party to a deed recorded in March 1890 that stated they would faithfully guard and affectionately protect the ground the statue stands on.”

Governor Northam ordered the flag to be taken down last week because of the pain many felt over the death of George Floyd.
