After Not Serving a Customer Who Wasn’t Wearing a Mask, a Starbucks Employee Gets $16K in Tips

Over $16,000 has been raised for a Starbucks employee after a customer posted on Facebook that the barista refused her service because she wasn’t wearing a mask.

A GoFundMe page was made for the Lenin Gutierrez, the barista, and by Wednesday had already eclipsed $17,000.

San Diego has had a face mask in public places mandate since May 1 but still, the customer, Amber Lynn Gilles, wrote in her Facebook post, “Next time I will wait for cops and bring a medical exemption.”

Amber’s post, which was shared 46,000 times led to the donations for Lenin who says he will use the money to pursue his dreams of becoming a dancer.
