Florida is joining Texas in slamming the brakes on its reopening efforts after a major spike in COVID-19 cases.

A whopping 9,000 new cases were reported on Friday, nearly double the previous day’s total of 5,000.

State officials have announced a ban on alcohol consumption at bars, and Gov. Ron DeSantis says the state won’t be moving on to the next phase of its reopening plan.
