Dallas County’s Daily Case Count Drops Below 1K for 1st Time in 18 Days

While diagnosing more than 700 cases of COVID-19 in a 24-hour time span might not seem like good news, Dallas County officials say they find the new number to be “encouraging.”

That’s because the 734 new cases, which were reported Tuesday, mark the first time in 18 days the number has dropped below 1,000. “One day does not make a trend, but this is an encouraging data point,” says Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. “Wearing your mask and avoiding unnecessary trips and exposure to people outside your home is working Dallas County and North Texas. Please keep doing it.”

Dallas County, which has seen a coronavirus resurgence in recent weeks, has reported a total of 43,026 cases and 537 deaths since the pandemic began.
