A home in Barrington is a total loss after a fire tore through the house Thursday.

According to the Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, firefighters got to the house on Cross Timber Road just after 2 p.m. It took several fire departments six hours before all of the hot spots were out.

A family dog died in the fire, no one else was hurt.

Officials are investigating was caused the blaze.
