Episode 95: Dancing through International Women’s Month

It’s International Women’s Month! On today’s show, we celebrate all of you with dance, art, and a little Pretty Women. In the first half of the show, two opportunities to see some gorgeous dancing. First up, Enid Smith, Co-Artistic Director of the Evanston Dance Ensemble, explores the unique ways we share our American identity through the company’s “American Portrait.” See it March 14-17 at Northwestern University.Then, Vershawn Sanders-Ward, Founder and Artistic Director of the Red Clay Dance Company, joins the program to preview the Le Femme Dance Festival. This three-day celebration brings choreography created by women of color to Chicago audiences and features legendary pop choreographer Fatima Robinson. Stephanie Cristello, Exhibition Curator, walks us through Sif Itona Westerberg’s Twin Flame, Double Ruin. Westerberg’s pieces explore the concept of twin flames and soulmates. And, last, but not least, there is one gentleman on today’s guest list. In fact, he plays Happy Man! Adam DuPlessis joins us to talk all things Pretty Woman: the Musical.
