RNC: The Man, The Munchies, The Merch!

While the majority of activities at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee revolve around speeches and rallies, the midway is not to be missed by attendees.

Among the numerous television booths and interview studios lie several sets of cornhole games ready for some spirited play. Photo opportunities abound in front of a nearly 50 foot red and blue “TRUMP 2024” sculpture, reminiscent of those at tourist destinations.

Inside the Baird Center lies “Convention Fest 24,” featuring a “Hall of Presidents,” book signings, vendors and even singer Lee Greenwood signing his books for children. Of course, the guitar he played on “God Bless The USA” is on full display. You can also get your picture taken behind the “Resolute Desk” from the Oval Office.

But the midway is a must visit for conventioneers. From food vendors and trucks to local crafts and organizations, the bazaar lines a full block and a half of Kilbourne Avenue. And what goes well with your cheese curds or brick oven pizza (with cheese from Fond du Lac), but beer, beer and more beer – all on tap! The Donald Trump feature film “Rescue Mission: Saving America” is playing in the Milwaukee Theatre.

Meanwhile, the merch tent is doing land-office business. MAGA hats of all styles and colors, coffee mugs, bobble heads, stickers and magnets proclaiming “Pro American – Anti Biden,” “Save America,” “My Governor Is An Idiot,” “Socialism Ahead” and many other pithy slogans. The vendor (who refused to be interviewed), said the best seller was the “Fight, Fight, Fight ” t-shirt, featuring the now infamous image of Donald Trump waving his fist after the assassination attempt. For $35, it’s a steal! But if you want to walk away with a real RNC keepsake, it has to be the gold Trump sneakers, featuring a “T” on the sides and an American flag on the heels. All yours for only $600! But beware, only limited sizes remain!
