The Cook County Medical Examiner says Cook County Sheriff’s deputy Rafael Worldlaw was shot and killed this morning in Woodlawn during a shootout at a gas station in the 500 block of east 67th street. Police say a gunman allegedly approached him and tried to rob him, that’s when the two exchanged gunfire. Wordlaw was shot in the chest. He got back into his car after the shooting to try and get help but his car hit a pole in the 6700 block of South Indiana. Police are still looking for the gunman.
