The Indiana Dunes and Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk will begin closing earlier, due to a series of vandalism.

The National Park Service has said that several illegal beach fires on the Indiana Dunes have been started and multiple life rings have been stolen

Beginning Friday August 2nd, the gates will closed be locked at 9pm. Any remaining vehicles will not be able to exit after closing time. They will be reopened daily at 8am.

The Park Service is also looking into surveillance monitoring for the areas.
