Another day of soaring temperatures expected across Chicago today. The temperatures today expected to be higher than Monday with the heat index reaching 100 at noon. An excessive heat warning remains in effect for the entire Chicago area until 10pm tonight. There is also a risk for severe weather later this evening. In Chicago residents can call 3-11 for the closest cooling centers and to request well being checks. Park district buildings, libraries, City Colleges of Chicago and police stations are open for relief from the heat. The Salvation Army is also opening cooling centers at their community centers.
