A Chicago police officer and a suspect were been shot Thursday afternoon in Englewood.

The attack happened near the 5600 block of South Shields Avenue. The officer was reportedly shot in the knee and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center by a CPD squad car. Chicago Police leadership and other officers gathered at the hospital on Thursday afternoon. Mayor Brandon Johnson reportedly visited as well.

A large police presence was on the scene, investigating the shooting with many streets blocked off to traffic.

An offender was also shot in the incident, was arrested.
