New report details economic impact of 2nd NASCAR Chicago Street Race

The new report was commissioned by the city’s tourism arm, Choose Chicago and conducted by Temple University. It says the races held on July 6th and 7th generated $128 million in total economic impact, up 17% from the inaugural race in 2023.

The event also attracted nearly 75 thousand attendees, of which just over 51% were non-locals to Chicago. That number is down though from 79 thousand visitors last year.

Nielsen ratings were also down for the weekend, with 3.8 million viewers tuning in this year compared to 4.6 million in 2023.

NASCAR and the city signed a three year deal. Next year’s Chicago Street Race is set for July 5th and 6th.
