Ousted former NBC “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd loses it in reacting to the media’s “stupid premise” of having covered for former President Joe Biden’s cognitive fitness.
“I just refuse to accept this stupid premise because it’s a right-wing, manufactured right-wing, premise in order to stain the media,” Todd said in a video podcast with fellow ousted former CNN analyst Chris Cillizza.
Even while rebuking Axios’ Alex Thompson’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner rebuke of the media “cover-up” of Biden’s lack of cognitive fitness for the presidential office — something Newsmax’s White House correspondent James Rosen directly asked Biden a news conference in 2022 — Todd admits media talking heads were in on the cover up.
“The media’s got plenty of things to attack them for, and there are MSNBC and CNN and pundits that absolutely carried water for Joe Biden, but they’re not journalists,” Todd said.
“They’re former strategists that carried water for Joe Biden.”
Todd was a former Democrat presidential campaign staffer turned media host himself.
Still, he was able to spin about those rebuking a supposed cover-up like Axios’ Thompson.
“The virtue signaling that some people have done to try to say that the media has missed this story: They didn’t miss this story,” Todd claimed.
Todd said former President George W. Bush’s “weapons of mass destruction” narratives against Iraq was a truly “massive press failure.”
“This was not that failure,” Todd continued.
“This is an attempt by some to virtue signal, and it’s horrible sort of pitting different news organizations against each other,” he added.
Todd puts the blame on Democrat leaders who refused to see Biden losing soon enough, like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., former Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., former first lady Jill Biden and President Biden himself, presidential candidate replacement Kamala Harris and “every elected member of Congress.”
“This is not a media failure,” Todd began. “This is a failure of the Democratic Party.”
