(CHICAGO) The fine for double parking downtown is about to be TRIPLED.
Too many delivery trucks are double-parking in the central business district and so downtown Alderman Brendan Reilly wants to raise the hundred dollar fine to $300.
“It has a terrible impact on traffic flow and safety and so this is to get at bad behavior that’s gone on for decades,” says Reilly, “One could argue for the large fleets a hundred-dollar fine is just the cost of doing business.”
A City Council committee has recommended tripling the fine and the full city council will give final approval on Wednesday.
