(CHICAGO) Suburban Republican Congressman Peter Roskam and his Democratic challenger Sean Casten debated the issues this afternoon for the Tribune Editorial Board and Bill Cameron says Trump was the big issue.

Roskam the Republican carefully tried to thread the political needle on the day after two men who helped Trump get elected became guilty of crimes, “Never telling a lie? Abraham Lincoln? Is that the standard? No, I wouldn’t put him in that category. I think he’s misrepresented things that are obviously misrepresentations. I think a number of other folk who are in public life have done the same thing.”

Casten the Democrat of course denounced Trump, especially on separating families at the border, “Let’s call it what they are, a kidnapping, right?”

This race is competitive and millions of dollars are pouring into each campaign.
