(CHICAGO) In the race for mayor, the Tribune is recalling on page one how Bill Daley passed a state insurance exam a VERY long time ago.

This story is 46 years old, and is now being recalled by the Tribune two and a half weeks before the election.

It’s all about how political clout allegedly filled in some of the answers on Bill Daley’s insurance exam.

Daley denies it and back in 1973 his father Mayor Richard J Daley put off an explanation of how his insurance broker sons Bill and John  landed some city insurance business.

‘At the proper time I told ya. There’s no statement needed. They’re good young men and if you and your family are as good as they are, then you’ll have a very happy family.”

Today the Bill Daley campaign says, “At a time when Chicago is facing serious issues around crime, taxes, education and the city’s future, the Tribune’s focus on ancient history is irrelevant..
