Nevada is set to become the latest state to get rid of the electoral college in presidential elections.

On Tuesday, the state Seate voted to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, a coalition of states pledging to cast their electoral votes for the winner of the popular vote.

So far, 14 states and the District of Columbia have joined the compact, and Nevada would bring the group’s vote total up to 195. The pledge wouldn’t kick in unless enough states joined to account for 270 votes – enough to win the election.
