Facebook has launched a Civil Rights Task Force whose job is to prevent the spread of misinformation on the platform, in particular about the upcoming census and 2020 elections.

The platform will be banning ads that encourage users to not vote, and tightening policies on hate speech and other offensive content.

In a blog post, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg says the social media giant plans to “treat next year’s census like an election” with “people, policies, and technology in place to protect against census interference.”
