The auto world is mourning one of its industry giants as news of Lee Iacocca’s passing at the age of 94 was announced on Tuesday.
Most Americans have gone for a ride in one of his vehicles. Iacocca was the driving force behind some of Detroit’s biggest brands: the Mustang and Chrysler’s line of minivans, as well as their K-cars and the Ford Escort.
The Chrysler chief famously turned the automaker around, taking to TV commercials in the 1980s declaring, “If you find a better car, buy it.”
According to Chrysler executive Bud Liebler, Iacocca was suffering from Parkinson’s Disease, but wasn’t sure if that was the cause of his death.
