Migrant detention conditions continue to raise eyebrows

Condition reports from migrant detention facilities continue to raise eyebrows.

A recent New York Times article calls conditions at the Clint Border Facility in Texas “horrendous,” reporting outbreaks of scabies, shingles, and chickenpox among the children packed in holding cells.

UN high commissioner for human rights Michelle Bachelet says the detention of children may violate international law. Her comments came after the DHS Inspector General’s office released photos of what it called “dangerous overcrowding” at Texas facilities.

CBS News reports House Democrats want answers, calling on top immigration officials to testify. The White House promises transparency; though, says conditions have been exaggerated while also pointing the finger across the political aisle for a lack of resources.
