Senator and 2020 presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren has introduced a bill that would erase over $640 million in student loan debt.

The “Student Loan Debt Relief Act” would forgive up to $50,000 in debt for households earning less than $100,000 per year.

Warren accused Washington of “burying tens of millions of Americans in mountains of student loan debt”, and said the debt crisis particularly affects people of color.

Fellow Senator and 2020 candidate Bernie Sanders has also pushed to eliminate student loan debt.
