A federal judge has declined to temporarily block a new rule ending asylum eligibility for migrants already at the US-Mexico border.

The injunction was sought by two groups which work with immigrants and refugees.

US District Judge Timothy J. Kelly Wednesday said the groups failed to show that their work would be irreparably harmed by the policy, NBC News reports.

The change eliminates asylum eligibility for migrants who pass through another country before getting to the United States, if they don’t seek protection in the other country first.
