MI Rep. calls it quits, cites rhetoric

After just about four years on the job, Michigan Republican Rep. Paul Mitchell is calling it quits. Pointing the finger squarely at his contemporaries in Washington.

Mitchell took over the seat in 2016 after it was vacated by Candice Miller. His office announced Wednesday morning that Mitchell would not seek reelection in 2020.

“My objective has always been simply to work to address significant challenges this nation faces: health care, immigration, and infrastructure for example. However, it appears to me that rhetoric overwhelms police, and politics consumes much of the oxygen in this city,” Mitchell said in a statement.
