The U.S. fertility rate has fallen to an all-time low.

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says U.S. women had fewer babies in 2018 than ever before, falling 2 percent from the previous year. At the current rate of births, the country wouldn’t be able to replace its existing population, the report indicates.

Also revealed in the report: While less women are having babies, more of the ones who do are having them before they go to full term.
