Uber Lays Off 400

Until yesterday, Uber had a 1,200-person strong marketing department, but in an effort to trim costs and make operations more efficient, they’ve cut about a third of that team.

The layoffs, first reported by The New York Times , follow first-quarter losses of $1 billion and are among the latest cost-driven changes to occur at the company since it went public in May.

Last month, chief operating officer Barney Harford and chief marketing officer Rebecca Messina stepped down as part of an organizational shakeup.
