The body of infamous gangster John Dillinger will be exhumed from the Indiana cemetary where it’s buried – although no one’s exactly sure why.

Earlier this month, health officials approved a request by Dillinger’s nephew, Michael Thompson, to dig up the gangster’s remains and re-bury them in September. However, Thompson hasn’t said exactly why he wants to do so.

Dillinger was a notorious gangster known for robbing banks during the Great Depression. He was fatally shot by police in 1934 after escaping from prison while awaiting a murder trial.
