Ohio Congressman Tim Ryan caused a bit of controversy at Tuesday’s when he failed to place his hand over his heart during the national anthem. But Ryan it wasn’t a protest.

Ryan’s campaign dismissed the gaffe as “a moment of absentmindedness” and promised it “won’t happen again”.

Ryan faced criticism from conservatives who compared him to Colin Kaepernick. But Ryan insisted after the event “I love this country as much as everybody else”.
