The US has to provide hygiene products to detained migrant children and also ensure they get enough sleep.
The US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals denied their appeal of a lower court’s decision Thursday. That ruling also requires the federal government hire a juvenile coordinator.
Backers of the lawsuit asked the court to enforce the Flores Settlement which requires “safe and sanitary” conditions.
In June, a DOJ attorney tried to argue “safe and sanitary” didn’t necessarily mean providing personal hygiene products. Justice officials say she has received death threats.
