Another Republican calls it quits

Another Republican is calling it quits. GOP Sen. Johnny Isakson, of Georgia, cited health challenges in his Wednesday retirement announcement.

Isakson says he’ll leave office at the end of the year – leaving open a rare opportunity for peach state voters. Both of Georgia’s senate seats will be up for election in 2020.

The 74-year-old, three-term, senator has Parkinson’s disease.

Isakson joins fellow GOP Rep. Sean Duffy, of Wisconsin, in leaving Washington. Duffy cited complications with a child due to arrive in October. He announced Monday that he’ll step down next month.
