Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey is apologizing for taking part in a blackface skit while attending college at Auburn.

Earlier this year, photos emerged of Alpha Gamma Delta pledges wearing blackface. While Ivey herself is not in the photo, her then-fiance has said she wore overalls and “black paint all over her face”.

On Thursday, Ivey said she did not recall ever dressing up in blackface but has “genuine remorse” over taking part in the skit.
