A 19-year-old day care worker in Delaware has been charged with murder in the death of a 4-month old infant at the day care facility where she worked.

Police say Dejoynay Ferguson placed her hand over the child’s nose and mouth, causing it to suffocate. She then waited about 20 minutes before telling her boss that the child was unresponsive. The owner called 911 and the child was declared dead at the hospital.

Ferguson is behind bars on first-degree murder charges while the day care center’s license has been suspended.
