An Illinois man who was caught on video harassing a woman wearing a Puerto Rico flag t-shirt at a public park has been convicted of a hate crime.

The video went viral last summer, in which 63-year-old Timothy Trybus is seen berating the 25-year-old woman, at one point telling her “You should not be wearing that shirt in America”. He appeared to be intoxicated at the time.

Trybus is facing up to five years in prison and will be sentenced in October.
