A group of sixth-grade boys at a private school in Virginia are accused of holding down a black classmate and cutting off her dreadlocks.

The alleged victim, 12-year-old Amari Allen, says three white students attacked her, calling her “ugly” and that her hair was “nappy”.

Administrators at Immanuel Christian School say they are “deeply disturbed” by the allegations and “have a zero-tolerance policy for any kind of bullying or abuse”.

The school has made headlines earlier this year after it hired Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, as an art teacher. Pence does not have any connection to the incident.
