Attorneys for the whistleblower at the center of the White House Ukraine scandal are worried about their client’s safety.

In a letter sent to director of national intelligence Joseph Maguire, attorneys claimed “certain individuals have issued a $50,000 ‘bounty’ for ‘any information’ relating to our client’s identity.”

The letter also mentioned President Trump’s recent comments about how spies were handled “in the old days”.

Attorneys say their client is not currently in federal protection and has not yet reached an agreement with Congress on testifying. Trump, meanwhile, has declared that “I deserve to meet my accuser”.
