Florida could become the next state to allow college athletes to get paid.
Gov. Ron DeSantis is backing a bipartisan bill that would allow student-athletes to sign endorsement deals or otherwise profit from their name and likeness. Former Florida college stars like ex-FSU lineman Corey Simon have also expressed support for the bill.
A similar bill was signed into law last month in California. The NCAA, meanwhile, has argued that such laws could damage amateur athletics.
