Chicago Teachers Strike Enters 2nd Week

Classes were once again cancelled on Monday as the Chicago teachers’ strike enters its second week.

Monday marked eight days since 25,000 teachers walked off the job on Oct. 17 after working for more than three months without a contract. Negotiations were scheduled to resume on Monday.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot says their latest offer includes a 16 percent pay raise for teachers and expressed disappointment that the union “cannot simply take yes for an answer”.
