Nearly two dozen Kentucky residents have been arrested in a two-day crackdown on retail thieves.
The arrests, which occurred late last week, were the result of a unique partnership involving the Elizabethtown Police Department, the Kentucky Organized Retail Crime Association and 12 local businesses, authorities revealed on Monday.
The alliance is the result of a spike in retail crime, which Elizabethtown P.D. rep John Thomas blames on a rise in drug use in the area. He says the goal of the sweep was to send a message to local criminals in hopes of stemming area thefts.
