A federal judge has blocked Alabama’s controversial law that bans abortion in almost all cases.

The law was the strictest in the country, effectively banning abortion at any stage and threatening a 99-year prison sentence for doctors who performed the procedure.

It was due to go into effect on Nov. 15th, but a U.S. District Court judge issued a temporary block while legal challenges from Planned Parenthood and the ACLU work their way through the courts.
