Kids Who Skip Breakfast Get Lower Grades

Here’s something to consider before sending your kids off to school without eating the most important meal of the day: those who skip breakfast don’t perform as well.

Researchers from the University of Leeds found that those who went hungry in the morning scored nearly two grades lower than students who regularly have breakfast.

The survey also accounted for socio-economic status, ethnicity, age, sex, and BMI before releasing the findings in the journal Frontiers in Public Health.

Lead researcher Katie Adolphus points out: “Our study suggests that secondary school students are at a disadvantage if they are not getting a morning meal to fuel their brains for the start of the school day.”
