According to a study published by a Dutch-American team of scientists on Monday, an accident at an Ohio fracking site was, in fact, one of the largest methane leaks ever recorded here in the states.

It was actually picked up by the first satellite designed to continuously monitor the planet for such leaks.

Scientists say that this is a rather large step forward when it comes to using space technology to detect leaks of methane, a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming.
