House Passes New Deal To Replace NAFTA

The US House of Representatives has been pretty busy leading up to their holiday recess, approving, among other things, a new North American trade deal to replace NAFTA.

Thursday’s vote on the US-Mexico-Canada agreement was much closer to bipartisanship than one of their more recent acts, passing 385 to 41.

During the bill’s debate, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi noted that the now impeached president could declare USMCA as a win, but added that the benefit to the American people was more important.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo took to Twitter, calling the passage a “historic milestone” in modernizing trade relations on the continent.
