Forget impeachment, just enjoy the holidays

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell says he isn’t opposed to having witnesses testify in President Trump’s impeachment trial. That’s what House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants. Specifically, she wants assurances that certain witnesses will be able to testify.

McConnell’s official stance is that the Senate can’t and won’t do any leg work on the trial until Pelosi hands over the Articles of Impeachment. Something she’s refusing to do without said reassurances.

McConnell tells the BBC, “Look, we’re at an impasse. We can’t do anything until the speaker sends the papers over, so everyone enjoy the holidays.
