Canada is closer to banning LGBT conversion therapy. A new bill introduced would make it illegal for a minor to go into the so-called therapy. It would also be illegal to force someone against their will to undergo what Federal Justice Minister David Lametti called “therapy premised on a lie.”

Along with those two changes in federal code, the BBC says there are three additional proposed changes, making it illegal to advertise or profit from conversion therapy or remove a minor from Canada to undergo the widely discredited therapy.

20 states in the U.S. already have laws prohibiting conversion therapy.
