German Man Uses Fishing Pole To Catch Baguettes Over The French Border

With the border closed between France and Germany due to the coronavirus outbreak, those living near the line who are used to walking into each other’s country for shopping are now shut out.

But that hasn’t stopped some residents from getting a bit creative.

Hartmut Fey of Lauterbach would normally pick up his pastries and bread from the French bakery in Carling. Not to be deterred, Fey, an avid fisherman, attached a bag to his pole and cast it over the barriers to Myriam Jansem-Boualit, who filled the sack with several baguettes.

While the stunt allowed them to maintain the proper six-foot social distance, Fey did manage to lose a few loves in the process.
