A District Court judge in Dallas has issued a restraining order to shut down a salon after its owner refused to obey coronavirus restrictions.

The restraining order, issued Tuesday by Judge Eric Moye, accuses Salon a La Mode owner Shelley Luther of violating city, county and state orders by reopening her business last week. After receiving a citation for the action, Luther appeared at a rally over the weekend and tore it up in front of news cameras. Per Moye’s order, the salon must shut down immediately and remain closed until at least May 12th.

The legal action comes just one day after Texas Governor Greg Abbott gave the green light for restaurants, retail shops, malls and movie theaters to reopen this Friday. Salons and barbershops, however, are now part of the first phase, Abbott said.
