U.S. Unemployment Claims Top 30 Million

U.S. unemployment claims have topped the 30 million mark as the economy continues to reel in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Another 3.8 Americans applied for jobless benefits last week, making a total of 30.3 million claims filed since mid-March.

Economists are predicting an unemployment rate as high as 20 percent – the highest since the Great Depression – and fear the economy could shrink by as much as 40 percent by the end of June.
